As per the specific method of elimination of aggravated Dosha , S`hodhana is classified into 5 types: a ) Vamana ( emesis ) b ) Virechana ( purgation ) c ) Nirooha Basti ( medicated enema ) d ) S`hiro Virechana ( nasal administration of drugs for elimination of Dosha ) e ) Raktamokshan`a ( bloodletting ) Purification of a tissue is also labelled as S`hodhana, e. g. S`hukra S`hodhana ( purification of semen ), Stanya S`hodhana ( purification of breast milk ). 2. Dravya , which purify vitiated Dosha ( Vaata , Pitta , Kapha ) or Dhaatu ( mainly S`hukra , Rakta ) and Upadhaatu ( Stanya ( breast milk ), Raja ( menstrual flow )) are called S`hodhana Dravya e. g.
