Literary Meaning | Lowered digestive capacity of Bhootaagni |
Implied Meaning | Bhootaagni is a digestive capacity responsible for digestion of the molecules of five basic elements ( Pancha Mahaabhoota ) in the food. After proper digestion of these molecules, they increase the quality and quantity of these molecules in the human body and give nourishment. If this digestive capacity is lowered down then, the molecules of the five basic elements ( Pancha Mahaabhoota ) in the human body are not nurtured and vitiation in them is observed. This happens because of lowered digestive capacity of Bhootaagni . It is called as Bhootaagni Maandya . |
Elaboration | As human body is formed from five basic elements, viz. Prithvi, Aapa, Tejas, Vaayu, Aakaas`ha ; these elements ( Mahaabhoota ) need to get nourishment from food. There are 5 types of Agni in human body ; which act upon these basic elements in the food and break them down to nourish these elements in the body. These five Bhootaagni play an important role in nourishment of these five basic elements in the body. These Bhootaagni are – Paarthivaagni ( digestive capacity which breaks down the molecules of Prithvi Mahaabhoota in the food ) Aapyaagni ( digestive capacity which breaks down the molecules of Jala Mahaabhoota in the food ) Taijasaagni ( digestive capacity which breaks down the molecules of Tejas Mahaabhoota in the food ) Vaayaveeyaagni ( digestive capacity which breaks down the molecules of Vaayu Mahaabhoota in the food ) Aakaas`haagni ( digestive capacity which breaks down the molecules of Aakaas`ha Mahaabhoota in the food )Thus, Bhootaagnimaandya leads to the derangement in the factors formed from these five basic elements. Paarthiva i. e. Prithvi dominant components in our body get nourishment from Paarthiva part of food ; this process is carried out by Paarthivaagni . Thus, Paarthiva components like Asthi, Nakha etc. are nourished. This rule is applicable to all other Bhootaagni _ s also. Then, ultimately, derangement in this Agni _ s leads to the improper nourishment of these five basic elements in our body ; though these factors are present in the food. The increase or decrease in the activity of the Bhootaagni is regulated by the status of Jaat`haraagni . |
