Elaboration | The drugs and diet having bitter taste are by themselves not delicious but they promote deliciousness. They are antitoxic and germicidal. They cure fainting, burning sensation, itching, thirst and fever, and obstinate skin diseases including leprosy. They promote firmness of skin and muscles. They have carminative action and promote digestion of food and Aama , purify breast milk ( Stanya S`hodhana ), cause drying and help in depletion of moisture, fat, muscle fat, bone marrow, lymph, pus, sweat, urine, stool, Pitta and Kapha. If it is excessively consumed it causes roughness in body channels, reduces strength, causes emaciation, giddiness, dryness of mouth and produces various diseases due to vitiation of Vaata . |
