| Implied Meaning | Substances, which avoid tendency of foetal abortion and stabilize the foetus are called Garbhasthaapaka. Group of substances when used, clear the internal environment of the female reproductive system and help in conception. As a result they also ensure that the pregnancy is carried to full term and that there are no complications in pregnancy and delivery. |
| Elaboration | Substances useful to stabilize foetus are S`hveta Doorvaa ( Cynodon dactylon ), Amoghaa S`hivaa, Haritakee ( Terminalia chebula ) etc . Charakaachaarya has described specific method for use of these drugs. These medicines can be worn in the form of talisman in the head or right hand of the pregnant woman and she should consume milk or ghee boiled with these drugs. She should take bath in water boiled with these drugs during Pushya conjunction. The substances described under the group Jeevaneeya are also used to maintain healthy pregnancy. |
