Implied MeaningIt is a dietary preparation having semisolid consistency and is prepared from rice grains.
ElaborationDeepaneeya ( enhancing digestive power ) Yavaagoo is useful for replenishing Agni in post Panchakarma therapy and such 28 Yavaagoo are described in classical text. ( C. Su. 2 / 18 Chakrapaan`i ).
There are different methods of preparations described in various classical texts with a few changes in proportion of ingredients. As per S`haarangadhara the preparation of Yavaagoo is as follow:
It is prepared from grains like rice, sesame ( Tila ), green gram ( Mudga ), black gram ( Maasha ) in which, one part of the grains is mixed with six parts of water and is cooked till a thick preparation is made ( Sh. S. M. 2 / 166 ).
Yavaagoo is Graahi ( has arresting property ), Balya ( supports body constituents ), Vaatanaas hini ( pacifies Vaata ), Tarpan`ee ( satiating, refreshing ) ( S. S. M. 2 / 166 ).
Yavaagoo is contraindicated in Madaatyaya ( alcoholism ), Madyanitya ( alcoholics ), and in Oordhvaga Raktapitta ( bleeding disorders ).
Also it is a dietary regime described as management principle for ज्वर ( C. Chi. 3 ).
