Literary MeaningA living human being who is the subject of management of disease ., Purusha is a term used by Ayurveda for a treatable live human being.
In Saankhya Philosophy it is an initiator of the process to form Jagat .
Implied MeaningIt is the combination of the soul and the Pancha Mahaabhoota that is the subject of alleviating the threefold suffering manifest as diseases.
In fact, Purusha points to all live forms but for the sake of convenience, in Ayurveda we consider the living individual as Purusha .
In the Saankhya philosophy the whole universe is created by the interaction of Purusha and Prakriti Purusha is responsible for the impulse of life. Hence substances, which are inanimate or without sense organs are called Nirindriya whereas substances showing signs of life by their sense organs are Sendriya . It is representative of cosmic consciousness Parabrahma in the body. It stays in the body or rather it is one of the factors responsible for conception and coming into being of an individual.
