| Elaboration | Dosha vitiate breast milk ( Stanya ) by entering in to the Stanyavaha Siraa and the milk itself. In lactating period, as breast milk is the only diet for newborn child, vitiated breast milk is a major cause in the diseases of the newborn. Eight types of Stanya Dusht`i by Dosha is explained in Charaka Samhitaa . Therefore, it is necessary to treat the mother for cleansing of breast milk. Charakasamhitaa has given 10 important drugs to purify breast milk. This group is called as Stanya S`hodhana Gan`a . E. g. Paat`haa ( Cissampelos pareira ), Mahaushadha ( Zingiber officinale ) etc. Theraputic procedures like वमन and Virechana ( followed by संसर्जन क्रम ) are also useful. Takraarisht`a is a good medicine for cleansing of breast milk. |
