| Elaboration | In Charaka Samhitaa digestive ( Paachana ) and digestive power enhancing ( Deepana ) Pramathya are recommended in dysentery ( in which Dosha are moderately aggravated ). In treatment of dysentery Charakaachaarya advises various types of Pramathyaa, which are prepared by using long piper, ginger, coriander, sweet flag root. As per S`haarangadhara preparation of Pramathyaa is as follows: Pounded drug 40 gm ( one Pala ) is boiled in eight times ( 320 ml ) of water retaining it to one fourth ( Sh.S.M.2/151 ).
