Implied Meaning | It means consumption of food in very less quantity. It is a method of choice for reducing the body constituents, for reducing weight ( Karshan`a ). |
Elaboration | Vaagbhat`a describes it as a general causative factor for various diseases. As per Arun ` adatta consumption of Pulaaka Dhaanya ( shrivelled grains ) is also termed as Pramitaas ` hana. It is one causative factor for dysentery. It decreases digestive power, and aggravates Vaata . From the treatment point of view it is advised in obese persons, which helps to reduce excessive fat deposition resulting in positive deprivation of weight. |
